DotA?

Ok, I've been in the DotA IRC channel (undernet.org) for quite some time now, and besides that I'm pretty much done with a first version of the RPG-script for IRC, I've come to notice something interesting.

Now and then, some people appeared in the channel, claiming they had thought it was a channel for ... "Warcraft: Defense of the Ancients".

Now, since I haven't played any Blizzard games in quite a while, and I haven't been following game news too closely, can anybody tell me if that's an official Blizzard thingy? I checked out battle.net and Blizz themselves, but nothing turned up diddly on a 'DotA' from their kitchen. So what's up with this? Am I missing out on something?

I just want to make sure we're not breeching anybody's copyrights. :shrug: BTW, if anybody's skilled in that specific area, Blizz is lookin' for Java Programmers at the moment. (;
